Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Overview

Is It Cap? is an entertainment app that uses AI to analyse communication patterns for personal reflection. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We take privacy seriously and collect only what is strictly necessary to provide the service.

Data We Collect

We collect your name and email address from your sign-in provider (Apple or Google). We collect content you voluntarily submit for analysis — text, screenshots, audio, or video. We collect anonymised usage events (e.g. scan completed, paywall viewed) to improve the app. We do not collect your contacts, location, device identifiers, or any data beyond what you explicitly provide.

How Your Content Is Handled

Text you submit is sent to OpenAI's API for pattern analysis and is not stored on our servers beyond the duration of the request. Screenshots, audio, and video files are uploaded to an encrypted private storage vault (Supabase Storage), processed immediately for analysis, then permanently and automatically deleted. We never store, review, or share your media files. We retain only your scored results and scan history, which are visible only to you.

AI Processing and Consent

Is It Cap? lets users voluntarily upload or enter content such as messages, screenshots, screen recordings, voice notes, transcripts, typed context, and related analysis inputs. Before any AI analysis is run, the app asks for the user’s permission to send this content to our AI service provider, OpenAI, via our secure Supabase backend.

This information is used only to generate entertainment-only communication pattern analysis, probabilities, summaries, and suggested replies. The app does not provide therapy, diagnosis, legal advice, or proof of deception. Users can decline AI processing, in which case analysis will not run. Users can withdraw AI analysis consent at any time in Settings under “AI & Data Sharing.”

We use third-party providers including OpenAI, Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple, and Google only as needed to provide authentication, storage, analysis, subscriptions, and app functionality. These providers are required to protect data appropriately.

AI & Third-Party Services

Content is processed by OpenAI (GPT-4o mini) for pattern analysis and Whisper for audio transcription. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to content submitted. We do not use your data to train AI models. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth. Subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat and Apple. None of these providers receive more data than is necessary for their function.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Row-level security policies ensure your data is never accessible to other users or our team. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing purposes.

Your Rights & Account Deletion

You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data at any time. To permanently delete your account and all associated data — including your scan history, results, and profile — go to Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete Account & All Data. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. For data requests or questions: hello@askisitcap.com

Children's Privacy

Is It Cap? is intended for users aged 16 and over. It is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from users under 16. If we become aware that a user under 16 has submitted personal data, we will delete it as soon as reasonably possible.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to delete your personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. To submit a request, contact hello@askisitcap.com. We will respond within 45 days.

Is It Cap? is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact hello@askisitcap.com and we will delete it immediately.

International Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in the United States (via Supabase on AWS and OpenAI). By using Is It Cap?, you consent to this transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable data protection laws including GDPR for European users.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The current version is always available in Settings.
